February 2014

Well the last few months have been a bit of adventure!

Joe Joe came to visit for Thanksgiving and we had our annual turkey fry and celebration with our family/friends abroad.  We hosted 55 people and it was great!

Went home for Christmas returned to HCMC early morning hours on January 26th and left at noon the same day for Bali.  Love Bali and can't wait to go again!  Both Mike and I had a set back of Bali Belly but we managed and still had a fab time.

We got back in time to take in some of the Chinese New Year Celebration and have pictures to share.  Need to get myself organized and download pics from Bali and New Year celebration here in HCMC.

Chuc Mung Nam Moi!  This year will be the year of the horse!

Getting Back from summer break!

Well I have been back in HCMC about 2 weeks now.  Things are coming together with the house.  Finally feeling like a home that I live in and not just on holiday.
 
Before I headed home for the summer we had a little family of rodents living in the yard... thank goodness I never experienced any in the house to date.  Mike on the other hand had one that he got rid of while I was home.  Pest Busters is my best friend and they are out weekly.  They know I am afraid and doing everything in their power to keep them out of my surroundings.
 
Been very busy two weeks.  Have had lots of maintenance and repairs done in and around the house.  Gearing up for our visitors coming in October.  Todd, Jennifer and Emily (our neighbors in Saudi) will be spending there holidays with us in HCMC.  My Dad will spend Thanksgiving with us.  So I have lots of fun times with family and friends ahead.
 
Next week I will head to Hong Kong with some ladies for shopping and I guess some sightseeing!  Will get to Bangkok soon as well for some unfinished shopping I need to do there.
 
Attended a cooking class today and we made ginger chicken and fried spring rolls.  Kim and a couple of other ladies were our teachers and did an excellent job!  Looking forward to next month's class.
 
Tomorrow is lunch and bowling with the ILV ladies, Wednesday is the EILV which I host here in my house once a month and Thursday is the morning ILV coffee social.  So as you all can tell I am getting into the swing of things and enjoying life to the fullest while I can!
 
Remember we are always ready for visitors!

Back in HoChiMinhCity

Well I went home for a couple of weeks and got back early Thursday morning.  Went to another ILV coffee morning and got to meet some more ladies that I hadn't meant the last time I was there.
 
Things are still kind of slow for me here.  Still have a lot to figure out and learn.  I will start venturing out on tours to get familiar with my surroundings and hopefully have visitors soon.

March 6th

Today I went to a newcomers social for ILV and got to meet some very
nice ladies. A few of us went for lunch afterwards and it was very
humorous.... another lady and myself ordered fried rice with meat and
eggroll. Welllllll.... it was steamed white rice and an egg omelet
with some pork in it rolled up!!! there is your egg roll.... haha

Our shipment is being delivered on Friday so looking forward to
getting things in place and moving in! Wooo hoo... it may feel like
home. Actually we will be echoing for a while since we have no
furniture. The house has a little sofa and chair, dinning table and
bed in the master bedroom! The rest we will have to fill in. Lots of
shopping to do!
