Easter Creations

Well we have to be a little creative here in Saudi and this was the Easter chicks I made for the gooddy bags for dance class. Veronica found some Chubs pops and I create a chick for the boys and girls. The boys didn't have a ribbon just a mohawk of feathers.

They were a hit today!!!!!

Wednesday, March 24th

Happy Birthday to my friend Gretchen.... sorry I am not home to celebrate!!!!

I have been very busy with dance classes and lots of shopping and trying to find Easter decor. We are making do with what we have to work with and it will be festive on the compound!!!!

Today we went downtown and covered a lot of ground... ended up waiting an extra 45 minutes for our bus and come to find out another bus/driver finally picked up and we found out poor Ali was in an accident. Saudi drivers are kind of dangerous... there are no laws to abide by in there driving habits.

Then I finally went to Saad Hospital to register in case of emergency I could be treated and it was kind of like a comedy act. I went to the registration desk and told the guy receptionist I needed to register and he asked "if I had an appointment".... I replied "NO".... he said in the heavy accent (which I can hardly understand) "you need to register when you see doctor.... what kind of doctor do you need to see?"... I replied - "eventually I will call"... and "he said for what kind of doctor?".... so I just blurted the first thing I could think of and said "dermatologist".... "he said you need to make appointment let me call for you".... so it was 1:25 and he got me an appointment for 1:40.... "I asked today?".... he said "yes"....

My friend that I was really going with her for an appointment of hers and figured I would get this done asked.."what do you need a dermatologist for?" and trying to hold my composure without laughing... all I could say "I have skin condition". So I saw the doctor and now I am registered!!!!

It was pretty funny though.

Tomorrow we are taking a field trip to Shahbay and will be in the desert having Arabic style lunch under the tent in the sand. Will take lots of pics and update soon.

Well enough of my rambling....

March 17th

Today Veronica, Renee, Lois and I went to Bahrain for a fun day of shopping. The driver picked us up for 8:15 and we just got home after a long day of shopping, eating and just playing with the girls.

Very tired after a long day of fun and tomorrow will be another full day of fun. Braedon's birthday at 11:00 then German band night on the compound.

March 16th

Today Renee, Doreen, Veronica, Melissa, Arlene, Ms Wendy (Jennie's mother in law visiting from Scotland) and myself all went to Arabian Nights tent for Oasis Coffee Morning. The food was excellent and the company was great!!!

We all enjoyed ourselves and did a little shopping there as well. You may notice my large hoop earrings that I purchased this morning.... haha

Renee won a door prize the only one in our group. She received a gift certificate to Sesha (sp??) Night for two. I am sure her and Scott will enjoy themselves.

Dance class in about one hour so will be getting ready shortly.

March 14th

Went shopping today and then had dance class. Veronica and I decided to order McDonalds delivery for dinner. We ordered at about 5:00 pm and it arrived around 7:00 pm. Next time we will take a taxi and eat there. It would be a heck of a lot quicker.

The weather is beautiful in the early mornings and evenings but it the tempature was 38 celcius which equals 100.4 farenheit..... it is slightly warm and it is only March.

Saturday, March 13th

It has been a busy week..... started back to dance classes last Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, on Wednesday we went to a restaurant called the Blue Strawberry with a couple of friends (Veronica and AJ). The food was very good and we were able to bring our own beverages with us... my own homemade wine!!!! On Thursday night we went to a PAWS fundraiser with Veronica, AJ, Renee and Scott. We heard a few bands play had some adult beverages and a very fun time. Yesterday Mike and I spent the day piddling and decided to start the home brew..... BEER. Well all went well until we woke this morning..... apparently the little ventilator on top got clogged and literally blew it's top!!!! Foam, yeast and hops was everywhere.... cabinets, ceiling, windows, blinds, and floor.... just nasty.

So this morning I've been cleaning and a little nervous about leaving the house and the beer brew.

It's been a while but this is what's going on today!!!!!

Well it has been a while since I have posted anything to the blog. The last few months have been hectic. I enjoyed my time home and have made it back to the Kingdom!!!!! I apologize for not getting to viisit with everyone while I was home but the days start running together and just so many personal issues to handle as well as the SAINTS and Mardi Gras. As much as I wanted to be in Saudi for the Saudi Gras celebration it didn't work out but I was there as a blowup doll!!!! There are lots of pictures on face book and I will try forwarding some to the blog very soon. I definitely have jet lag but trying not to give in and take a nap today.

The return trip wasn't bad at all just a little eventful. I had lots of treasures packed and did organize my liquids so of course Mike was stressed with me disorganized self. When we got to London I had to juggle the liquids into a ziplock baggy and then the best was our final airport destination one of my bags came out tagged with stickers and a tie wrap. Well we had to go through customs inspection. They asked if we had radios packed and Mike of course was asking me if I had any radios to which I was like NO... I only have my IPod in my carry on. Mam are you sure there are no radios.... to which again I said no we don't have any radios. So my suitcase was opened and inspected to find 3 sets of CARS walkie talkies. I didn't know that was considered contraban. Whatever, it was a little humor I told Mike because even the man laughed. So we got out the airport and sat traffic for no apparent reason on the causeway from Bahrain to Saudi.

Then we get to our villa and it was decorated very nicely by my wonderful friends, inside and out, plus lots of goodies. So we started turning on a/c to which our downstairs unit was out, tried logging on to internet to which it was disconnected because renewal was last week and our trip home was delayed, then my Saudi cell phone out of service because if you don't use for so long they disconnect and one more thing our refrigerator/freezer was out. I have 3 ice chest of food and a few grocery bags of food in my friends deep freezer since 6:00am this morning. So it has been eventful the last several hours. As soon as everything is somewhat normal I will post some pictures.

I did have a very nice lunch with the girls today and saw my little friends too. So I am getting into the swing of things. Be in touch soon.
